PERSONAL INFORMATION Updated 7/25/2006 Some personal information is gathered when you register with Book Adventure. During registration, you are asked to enter your name, e-mail address, and other personal information. This data is used to customize the site for you. This information is also used to keep you informed of special offers from the Book Adventure sponsors if you have indicated in your account information that you would like to receive them. If you have indicated in your account information that you would like to be informed of special offers from Book Adventure sponsors, any information collected is used only by Sylvan Learning, Educate Inc. and its affiliate companies and our Sylvan Learning Center franchises to contact consumers for marketing and operational purposes. Persons who supply us with their telephone numbers or e-mail addresses on-line and opt in to receive special offers from Book Adventure sponsors, may receive telephone or e-mail contact from us or from our Sylvan Learning Center franchises with information regarding special promotions, new products and services or upcoming events. Sylvan Learning, Educate Inc. and its affiliate companies will not release, sell, rent or trade the personal information of any of our customers to any third party. No identifying information is collected from your children. Gender and State of residence are requested, as optional fields, so that we understand our audience better when we look for new prizes. You can change your account information at any time. The information practices of those web sites linked to Book Adventure are not covered by this privacy statement. What are my choices regarding collection and use of my information? If you indicated upon registration that you are interested in receiving special offers or information from Book Adventure sponsors, you may receive communication regarding products and services that we feel may be of interest to you. Only Book Adventure sponsors (or agents working on behalf of Book Adventure and under confidentiality agreements) will contact you. If you do not want to receive such mailings you can choose not to opt in at the time of registration or you can easily edit your account information and indicate a change of preference at any time. What security precautions are in place to protect the misuse of my information? Your Book Adventure account information is password-protected, so that you, and only you, have access to this personal information. You may edit your account information at any time by logging in with your Book Adventure User Name and password. We recommend that you do not divulge your password to anyone. Also remember to sign out of Book Adventure and close your browser window when you have finished your work. This is to ensure that others cannot access your personal information and correspondence if you share a computer with someone else or are using a computer in a public place like a library or Internet cafe. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, Book Adventure cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us or from our online products or services, and you do so at your own risk.
